Horses are herbivores. Since horses were domesticated by human beings, in the long process of development, due to the impact of the natural environment in various regions and the needs of social and economic development in different periods, the use of horses has experienced the process of alternation or integration of meat, milk, agricultural production, transportation and sports entertainment.

According to a large amount of evidence about Botai culture in Northern Kazakhstan published in Science in recent years, horses were domesticated in the Eurasian steppe at least in the Bronze Age 5000 years ago. The earliest domestication of horses may have three purposes: first, to retain redundant hunting horses as a source of food, second, to serve and ride, and third, to sacrifice or watch.

Horses’ temperament is relatively docile; They never take the initiative to attack humans and other animals. An important reason why people can tame horses is that horses have poor eyesight. The overlapping part of the two eyes of the horse is only 30 degrees. The stereoscopic sense of seeing things is very poor, and it is easy to have an illusion of people and objects, so people take advantage of this weakness of the horse.

Horses have no ability to judge the distance when retreating, and their kicks back is because of fear. So, it is very dangerous for people to stand behind a horse. However, due to the closeness between people and horses, many horses have changed this habit.

Horses have excellent hearing and smell. Their ears are on the highest point of their head, and the rotation angle is very large. Too high volume or audio is a kind of adversity stimulation for horses, which can make them feel very painful. Their olfactory nerve is very sharp, they mainly recognize their owner and gender based on olfactory information.
