National Geographic is one of the most popular and well-known magazines in the world, featuring high-quality articles on society, history, and customs from around the world.

Unsurprisingly, photojournalists from all over the world dream of publishing their photos in this prestigious magazine. In this article, we will explore some of the stunning destinations that National Geographic has rated.

If you are planning to climb Mount Everest from within Nepal, there are two popular routes you can choose from. One is the well-trodden Everest Base Camp route, while the other is a less-traveled alternative route that takes you past the beautiful Koyo Lakes.

The Koyo Lakes are a group of six small lakes fed by the famous alpine glacier Gozumba Glacier. With a horizontal length of about 10 kilometers, Gokyo Lake is the highest freshwater lake system in the world in terms of altitude.

From the lake, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Everest and Lhotse, Makalu, Dzogchenko, and Gedzongkang peaks.

Moving on to Indonesia, we have Klimutu, a volcano located near the town of Moni in the central part of Flores Island.

The volcano has a three-colored crater lake, offering a landscape that looks like the moon's surface, with a shining lake that has unmistakable colors. While many extinct volcanoes around the world have crater lakes, the three different-colored crater lakes in Klimutu are unique.

Geographers believe these uncolored lakes are caused by a jet of unmineralized water at the bottom of each of the three disconnected crater lakes. One of the joys of visiting Klimutu is that you never know what color lake you will see when you reach the crater.

Moving to China, we have the Zhangye Danxia Landform, located in Zhangye National Geopark in Gansu Province.

The park covers an area of 322 square kilometers and is located at the northern foot of the Qilian Mountains, in Linze County and Sunan County, which are both under the jurisdiction of Zhangye, a prefecture-level city in Gansu Province. The Danxia landforms are mainly distributed in the Kangle Township and Baiyin Township lots.

Zhangye Danxia is world-famous for the distinctive color of its rocks. These rocks are hundreds of meters high and were formed over 24 million years of sedimentation of sandstone and other minerals.

The effect is similar to that of a sandwich cake and is associated with the movement of the earth's crustal plates that make up the Himalayas. After years of wind and rain erosion, these rocks have been carved into the unique and strange shapes they are today, resembling towers, pillars, and gullies, with colorful and varied hues.

Finally, we have the Hulunbuir Grassland in China, a well-preserved grassland with abundant water and grass, displaying all the beauty of nature.

The grassland is characterized by endless meadows, dense and secluded forests, a blue sky wetland (Erguna Wetland), a vast lake (Hulun Lake), and hundreds of winding rivers, each offering its fairyland-like beauty.

You can spot cattle and sheep grazing in the meadows, reindeer in the forests, eagles soaring in the sky, and horses galloping through the fields.

National Geographic has featured some of the most beautiful destinations in the world, and these four locations are just a few examples of the breathtaking places that can be found around the globe.
