Exterior wall coatings are used to paint the exterior walls of buildings, so one of the most important indicators is the resistance to UV radiation, which is required to achieve a long exposure without discoloration.

Some exterior wall coatings also require water resistance and self-cleaning properties. The paint film should be hard and flat, so that dirt will fall off when it is washed.

Exterior wall paint can be used for interior wall painting because it also has water resistance, while interior wall paint does not have sunlight resistance, so you cannot use interior wall paint as exterior wall paint.

Exterior wall decoration is directly exposed to nature, subject to wind, rain, and sunlight, so it is required to have water resistance, color retention, pollution resistance, aging resistance, and good adhesion, and also has the characteristics of good freeze-thaw resistance and low film-forming temperature.

Exterior wall coatings are divided into four categories according to the decorative texture.

1. Thin exterior wall coating: fine texture. Material saving can also be used for interior wall decoration, including flat paint, sand wall-like, and mica-like paint.

2. Complex pattern coating: the pattern is concave and convex, rich in a three-dimensional sense.

3. Color sand paint: with dyed quartz sand, porcelain grain mica powder as the main raw material, novel color, crystal gorgeous.

4. Thick coating: It can be sprayed, painted, rolled, and brushed, and can also make different texture patterns.

Performance requirements

1. Good decorative properties: the exterior wall coating is required to have rich colors and excellent color retention, which can maintain the original decorative properties for a long time.

2. Good weather resistance: exterior wall coatings, because the coating is exposed to the atmosphere, to withstand the wind, sun, salt spray corrosion, rain, hot and cold changes, and other effects.

In this external natural environment of long-term repeated action, the coating is prone to cracking, chalking, flaking, discoloration, and other phenomena, so the coating loses the original decorative protection function.

Therefore, a good exterior wall coating should not be damaged within the specified service life.

3. Good staining resistance: Due to the difference in environmental conditions in different areas, some heavy industries and mining cities have more dust and other suspended substances in the atmosphere, which will make the staining coating lose its original decorative effect and thus affect the appearance of the building.

Therefore, exterior wall coatings should have good stain resistance, so that the coating is not easy to be polluted or easy to clean.

4. Good water resistance: the exterior wall coating surface is exposed to the atmosphere and will often be washed by rain. Therefore, exterior paint coating should have good water resistance.

5. Good resistance to mildew: exterior wall coating surface is easy to grow mildew in a humid environment. Therefore, the coating film is required to inhibit the growth of mold and algae reproduction.
