Falcons are at the top of the bird food chain.

All raptors of Falconiformes are diurnal raptors. Falconiformes are solitary animals with strong flying abilities and one of the best eyesight. Unlike other birds, females tend to be larger than males.

Falconiformes are at the top of the food chain among birds and have important ecological significance. Many Falconiformes are also considered to have good qualities such as bravery and toughness, so the national birds of many countries are Falconiformes.

Falcons live in a wide range of areas, including North and South America, Europe, Northwest Africa, the Middle East, the subpolar circle, and Temperate Asia. The main varieties are kestrel and falcon.

Falcons don't normally fly very fast, only 70 to 120 kilometers per hour, but they can hunt and dive at 389 kilometers per hour. That's 108 meters per second. Falcons are neutral birds of prey. When flying in the sky, often fly and glide for a while. It's easy to see high up in the wild.

They inhabit mountains, swamps, and open countryside around rice paddies. They can be seen all over the world and are extremely fierce.

Falcons mainly prey on small and medium-sized birds such as wild ducks, crows, and chickens. And occasionally small mammals like rats and hares.

Even the golden eagle, which is much larger than the eagle, dares to attack. Because it hunts primarily in the air, it needs more speed than other birds of prey.

So it has a relatively large body weight, narrow wings that reduce drag like a high-speed airplane, and shorter tail feathers.

Hayato is monogamous, and both sexes feed their offspring. Young birds grow quickly, and some species are larger than adults before they leave the nest.

Young birds take between one and three years to reach sexual maturity. Falcons usually nest in tall trees or cliffs. Large species lay one to two eggs per litter, and small species lay three to five eggs per litter.

The incubation period of large species is about 45 days, and the chicks stay in the nest for 2 months before flying out. The incubation period of small species is about 30 days, and the chicks stay in the nest for about one month before flying out.

Young birds are late birds. Generally, the female birds incubate the eggs, while the male birds keep watching nearby and hunt for food.

As ferocious birds, falcons are often confused with eagles. There are some differences.

A falcon differs from an eagle chiefly in appearance.

1. An eagle has golden eyes, while a falcon usually has black eyes.

2. The wings of an eagle are relatively wide with forked feathers at the end. It's good for hovering. Falcons have slender wings with smooth ends. Good at diving.

3. The eagle has no pattern on its face. The falcon has a pattern on its face.

4. Eagles use their claws to tear apart their prey. A falcon depends on its mouth. So their mouths look different.
